10:51 am - Been a bit busy. I have been very busy with my dog, Girls, recovery. We were concerned at first because she was refusing water. I guess she remembered that drinking water made her throw up. Well, at first I got some really cold bottled water and drizzled it in her mouth. That did not work. So then I started putting warm canned low fat chicken broth on her homemade rice and boiled chicken meals. The salty taste in the broth made her start drinking water again. Today she finished all her medication. At least we can see her kidneys are functioning. I threw out all my Innova dry dog food because I did not like the idea that Natura company even used anything to do with Menu Foods for canning or whatever. So, I am switching Girl to the Canidae dry dog food as they seem a much more conscientious company and that is what my cats are eating, Felidae dry for cats. I am just warning anyone, if your dog or cat suddenly starts throwing up a lot, not fur balls, and if they had never been prone to vomiting. Take them to the Vet. If we had waited Girls kidneys would have shut down.
On a light note. This little video is adorable. I know, I know, we are laughing at a little girl using bad language. That just warns you to be careful what little ears hear. I love her accent. Can't quite place it.

And my columbine has a bud!!! Also I watched a special about this puzzle company in Vermont. I cannot afford them right now. But they are beautiful. And for a limited time you can join their free ecard account and send people small jigsaw puzzles. And they are cute, some with a rose or dragon fly in the middle of the puzzle. I would like to get one of my sons winning nature photographs made in to a jigsaw puzzle for a gift. They cost about 300 dollars and that is the small ones. http://www.stave.com/
Just like in humans. You never know how much of your life you have invested in your pet until you are about to lose them. I had a nightmare the other night. Someone shot my dog Girl. Which is weird because she never leaves the yard. And I remember carrying her body and crying. I know it was just a delayed reaction to her illness. Ok, back to nursemaid work. Oh, and dog food does not have to be expensive. In fact, many of the expensive brands were on the recall list. My son has always fed his dogs Pedigree and they were not involved with the recall. Here is my columbine bud.

It is terrible when one of the family is ill, especially when they cannot tell you how bad they feel, or where the problem is. I'm glad she's getting better again, now, though, and I wish her a speedy recovery.
There is a petfood product over this side, called Iams, a dry food product that is supposed to be the best ever for your pet. We tried it with our cats, (when we still had three) and none of them would eat it. One sniffed at it, nibbled one morsel, then rejected it. The other two absolutely flat refused to have anything to do with it. We left it in the food dish all day, then replaced it with fresh. The cats still wouldn't eat it, although they were crying for food. None of the 'guest cats' that come round would eat it, either. After the second day, and three replacements of the stuff, we chucked it into the bin, and gave our cats their regular food. They ate a tinful each, they were that hungry! What I am saying, I think, is that you should feed the pet what IT likes, and not what you think it should like!
That little video is adorable! ♥ |
